Joyti and Vishal’s Love Story

Joyti and Vishal Wedding Film

Sikh Wedding Ceremony

After all day pre-wedding festivities, Joyti and Vishal were ready for their wedding day. We started our day by capturing details of Joyti before moving to Vishal’s Sehra Bandi. A tradition in a Sikh wedding ceremony includes the turban being tied around the groom’s head. Vishal was handed over a sword that he will be carrying during all the wedding ceremonies.

Baraat Sikh Wedding Ceremony

Baraat – Traditionally speaking, the groom is supposed to travel to the bride’s place on a mare. Nowadays, the groom takes a car for most part of the journey and before entering the Sikh wedding venue mounts the mare, which is decorated with golden ribbons and other trimmings. Relatives and friends of the groom accompany him to the wedding venue. Music and Bhangra dance are an integral part of a Baraat. Generally, a band is hired to provide the music to which the Baraatis dance.

Vishal wore a traditional Indian Beige Kurta with a turban and looked awesome caring sword during Barrat.

Baraat was set outside Bridgewater Gurdwara. Vishal’s friends and family danced to the beats of Dholi who made the whole room energetic with his music. Both sides’ relatives danced to the tunes playing Bhangra and Garba.

The baraat was then welcomed at the gate of Bridgewater Gurudwara by the bride’s side. Several rituals, exchange of garlands and warm hugs were exchanged between two families.

The Sikh wedding ceremony took place at Bridgewater Gurudwara player hall in afternoon. Vishal and Joyti entered the hall with their parents and exchanged their wedding vows.

Jaggo Sikh Wedding Ceremony

Jaggo means ‘staying awake’ and translates to 'Waking Up’, the Jago ritual involves the relatives of the groom and bride, in their respective abodes, staying up all night. The idea of the Jaggo ceremony in Sikh tradition is to celebrate the marriage and sikh wedding of bride and groom by dancing and partying.

In the Jaggo evening, the family of both Joyti and Vishal dances and signs in the beautiful venue of Razberry Wedding Venue.

In this ceremony, the family dances and sings in the beautifully decorated wedding home. Jago is celebrated in the last hours of the night. They decorate copper or brass vessel called khadaa with diveh (clay lamps) and fill them with mustard oil and light them.

Joyti opted for a classical red colored dress for her Jaggo evening and Vishal looked stunning in her white colored outfit.
